Car Rentals

Car Rental Tips

  • Most car rental companies limit rentals to individuals being 25 years of age and older. Check www.enterprise.com for rentals to individuals at 18 years of age.
  • When you rent a car in the US, be sure and verify that the rental contract authorizes you to cross state lines with the vehicle. If a restriction applies, the car will have a GPS device that alerts the auto rental company and additional fees will apply upon your return.
  • Avoid unnecessary rental car insurance offered with every car rental. Check with your personal auto insurance carrier to determine whether or not you have automatic rental car coverage based upon your policy. Be sure and clarify coverage for medical and collision for both your vehicle and passengers as well as the other vehicle and passengers in the event the accident is your fault. Also know if the same coverage applies outside the US. Some credit cards also provide rental car insurance when you pay for the rental using their card. As stated above, find out if you have this source of coverage and to what extent. If in doubt, buy the rental car insurance.
